What is a Local Involvement Networks - LINk?
There is a LINk in every Local Authority area (that has responsibility for Social Services). Each Local Authority area is funded by the Department of Health to be able to establish a LINk in its area. Each Local Authority uses the money to pay a host organisation to setup and provide practical support to the LINk. The LINk is independent from the Local Authority and decides the work it does.
About Middlesbrough Local Involvement Network (LINk)
Middlesbrough LINk is a network bringing together local people, organisations and groups who want to improve Health and Social Care Services in the borough.
The LINk will give you a chance to have your say. Everyone can be involved, as much or as little as you would like, in a way that is easy for you. Your ideas will start to influence changes to services used either by yourself, your family or friends, so that they can change for the better.
Middlesbrough LINk will:
- Support people to help them get involved
- Bring groups and individuals together to look at issues
- Let people know how to raise issues effectively
Following a launch event and elections in early 2009, the next phase for the Middlesbrough LINk will be to develop its Work Plan based on the information we have been gathering about what issues are of importance to the people of Middlesbrough. We are continually gathering views, opinions and information and always welcome hearing about issues that people would like the LINk to address. The LINk Work Plan will be regularly reviewed, so new items can be considered. Once the initial Work Plan has been set, the LINk will then be able to start work through a number of working groups.
Who can be part of the Middlesbrough LINk?
The Middlesbrough LINk is open to everyone and should represent the whole community. Groups, Individuals and Organisations all have a part to play in giving their views on Local Services.
The LINk will be setup in a way that allows participants to decide for themselves how they are involved and how much time they give to it.
If you are a Group, Individual, Organisation or Service that would like to know more about the LINk, or how you/your work can influence the LINk, please do not hesitate to contact us.
