Selling to the council

Bottle of notes

Middlesbrough Council spends in the region of £120 million annually on goods, works and services. In addition to arranging its own contracts Middlesbrough Council has entered into a strategic partnership with Mouchel to provide a procurement service under the banner ‘Service Middlesbrough’. As a result tender opportunities may come directly from Middlesbrough Council or from Service Middlesbrough.

Middlesbrough Council encourages competition and welcomes bids from new and established suppliers. Contracts are generally awarded on the basis of the most economically advantageous offer for the Council. Middlesbrough Council cannot discriminate in favour of local suppliers but they will be given every encouragement to compete for Middlesbrough Council contracts.

The prospect of tendering with any public sector organisation, including Middlesbrough Council can be daunting for any supplier, especially any that are new to the whole tendering procedures. As a result, the Council has been running a series of free workshops to help businesses understand the tender process and prepare your business for successful tendering. There is also a ‘How To Do Business Guide’ and 'Top Tender Tips' (within the downloads section) to assist suppliers and contractors who wish to complete a tender. If you would like a hard copy or further information please contact 01642 729007 or email businesssupport@middlesbrough.gov.uk

Latest tender opportunities are advertised on this website (see link on the left).
