Primary Strategy for Change
2007 saw the launch of the government’s Primary Capital Programme inviting local authorities to draw up strategic plans to renewing primary school accommodation across the country. The offer from the government is a 14-year programme of capital investment with the aim of improving the learning environment in up to 50% of schools nationwide. The programme could bring up to £50 million of funding to Middlesbrough over its lifetime.
The Primary Strategy for Change is Middlesbrough’s approach to this investment, delivering millions of pounds of funding to deliver change in the town’s primary schools. The Council intends to use the investment offered as a catalyst for embedding change across all schools so that every young person can achieve to their full potential. In taking forward the strategy the Council intends to work positively with schools, parents, pupils and the wider community to make our vision for better education in Middlesbrough a reality.
More information on the programme can be found on this site using the links on the left of the page. Details of individual school schemes can also be found and the site gives an opportunity for all stakeholders to get involved in the development of primary education across the town.
