Animal health and welfare

Welcome to the Animal Health and Welfare section. 

This section covers the work carried out by the Dog Warden Service and The Food Safety Team.

The Dog Warden Service looks at issues such as stray dogs, micro chipping campaigns, dog fouling & animal licensing.

The food team is responsible for the Health & Welfare of farmed animals. This includes ensuring compliance with animal welfare legislation such as movement orders & liaising with DEFRA on all current issues.

Dead animals

Middlesbrough Council will collect and dispose of dead animals within one day from all public areas, highways and domestic properties. Any resident or member of the public can report a dead animal by telephoning Middlesbrough Council's Contact Centre on 01642 726001.

Dead animals found on the A19 and A174 in Middlesbrough are removed by Autolink who can be contacted on 01642 560538.
