New improved kerbside recycling collections

RecyclingYou can now recycle even more from home using Middlesbrough Council's black box, blue bag and clear bag fortnightly recycling collection service. Remember: don't bin it, box it and bag it.

Residents should look at their new Waste and Recycling leaflet with information on additions to the kerbside recycling collections, and what can and cannot be accepted in each container. There is a link to download this Recycling Leaflet on the right of this page.

Residents can now recycle more materials from their doorstep by putting cardboard in their blue bags along with their paper recycling, tetra pak cartons in their black box along with their glass bottles and jars and their food and drinks cans, and their rigid plastic containers in their clear plastic recycling bags. Residents can now also recycle their old, small household domestic batteries (batteries used in small, portable electronic devices and toys) in the small, clear, resealable battery bags available. Once full, the bag should be sealed and placed on top of the black box for collection.

It has never been easier to recycle in Middlesbrough. Use Middlesbrough Council's fortnightly recycling service to recycle your cans, glass, cartons, paper, cardboard, rigid plastic packaging, small domestic batteries, and textiles.

All you have to do is:

  1. Put your glass bottles and jars, food and drinks cans and juice cartons (along with your full battery or textile recycling bags) in your black box. Put your paper and cardboard (folded flat) in your blue bag, and your rigid plastic bottles, yoghurt pots and food tubs (cleaned) in your clear bag.
  2. Leave your black box, blue bag and clear bag out on the pavement just in front of your property for collection, on the relevant day, before 7.00am
