Compass – pointing you to affordable housing in the Tees Valley

Middlesbrough Council along with its partner landlord Erimus Housing has launched the new Compass scheme. Compass is a choice based lettings scheme, which is a new way of letting housing to give customers more choice about where they live. Erimus Housing previously operated a choice based lettings scheme, to advertise affordable housing in Middlesbrough, however, the new Compass scheme will include a range of available housing in Middlesbrough, Stockton, Redcar & Cleveland, Hartlepool and Darlington.

The following organisations, with homes in these areas, are involved in the Compass scheme:

Available properties will be advertised weekly, and will also appear in a weekly newsletter, available at Erimus’ Homechoice office on Corporation Road, or your nearest Erimus Housing area office. A search for properties can also be made on the Compass website.

As well as available properties from the above organisations, customers will be able to search for other housing options to better suit their family’s needs, including properties from other Registered Social Landlords, private rented accommodation, low cost home ownership options, and mutual exchanges.

To be able to use the Compass scheme, and bid for properties, you need to register, you can do this by visiting the Compass website at www.compasscbl.org.uk and completing an on-line application form or collecting an application form from Erimus offices.

Special housing needs

Erimus Housing has a Disabled Persons Housing Service to help people with particular special needs to access housing suitable. This includes assisting applicants with particular disabilities, older people requiring sheltered housing, people with complex health problems and applicants with other special needs. When an applicant registers identifying particular special needs, the Disabled Persons Housing Service is automatically notified. The customer will then be contacted directly in order to discuss their circumstances in more detail.

For more information or to register for the scheme, please contact Erimus Homechoice Choice Based Lettings Team on 08000 461600.
