Description
The farm offers visitors the opportunity to see many types of rare breed traditional farm animals such as sheep, cows, and pigs. There are also a range of other animals including horses, donkeys, poultry and alpacas. There are two new outdoor play areas and two picnic areas. There is also a petting area where you can meet our guinea pigs and rabbits.
The farm is also situated right next to Fairy dell, which is a beautiful wooded beck valley with a lake and sculptures. Fairy Dell is a great place to study wildlife and the countryside so a visit combining the two can be arranged.
There is also a loop path around the farm which is exactly a mile. In the summer this is an excellent way to see some of the animals who are out in the field and also a nice way to get a bit of gentle exercise.
The length of visit can range from an hour to a full day depending on what you are hoping to get from the visit.
Contact with the animals is encouraged along with feeding (bags of food can be purchased from the farm shop).

Information
The farm has been providing local school children with an enjoyable and educational visit for over 30 years. It offers a rare opportunity for children to make close contact with a wide variety of farm animals. The farm is also a great place for children to learn about where there food comes from and also talk about sustainability issues such as food miles.
Our proximity to Fairy Dell also means that we provide an excellent base from which to use the Dell for nature studies, such as minibeast hunts, earth education or habitat studies. Or ideally combine the two.
Our unique combination of facilities gives teachers the option of using the farm as the basis for schoolwork projects or simply as a fun but informative day out.
If you want to discuss further options to enhance or lengthen your visit such as a guide or a visit to Fairy Dell then please ring 01642 577325
Preparation
The most satisfactory farm visits tend to be those with relatively small groups of 30 children or less. Children should be encouraged to dress to suit the occasion (wellington boots or outdoor shoes). Warm weatherproof clothing is essential especially during the winter months when the fields can be muddy. Throughout the year we also do seasonal activities (i.e. Christmas crafts) please call for more information.
