Friends of Stewart Park
The Friends of Stewart Park are a group of people who help the Council with the running and developments to the park. They meet four to five times per year and often invite external speakers. The next scheduled meetings:
Tuesday 5th April-6.30pm at Marton Community Centre, Cypress Road.
Thursday 2nd June-6pm at Stewart Park. The meeting will be followed by a walk showing the latest developments in the HLF project.
Thursday 21st July-6pm at Stewart Park. the meeting will be followed by aw walk showing the latest developments in the HLF project.
Thursday 1st September-6pm at Stewart Park. The meeting will be followed by a walk showing the latest developments in the HLF project.
Tuesday 6th December-6.30pm at Marton Community Centre, Cypress Road.
Everyone is welcome!
They also get involved with:
- The Heritage Lottery Fund project
- Events and activities in the park
- Fauna and flora monitoring
- Planning and fund raising of small-scale projects
- Actual work in the park
Due to the major works taking place the group are busy working with the Parks team on the 'Park for People' Heritage Lottery Funded project.
The Friends group have also been instrumental in producing the 'Memories of Stewart Park' book complied by Linda Gallagher.
This book costs £12.99 and all proceeds go to the Friends of Stewart Park. This excellent book is available from:Waterstones, WHSmith's, Guisborough Bookshop, The Yorkshire Store Stokesley, Marton Pharmacy, Captain Cook Birthplace Museum, Dorman Museum, Newham Grange Country Farm, Middlesbrough Archives, Marton Library and the Rainbow Leisure Centre Library.
