Swimming pool activities

The Neptune offers a varied swimming programme for all ages and abilities including, water based aerobic sessions and swimming lessons from 4 years to adult. The

Neptune is also the home of Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Club (check out www.middlesbroughasc.co.uk)

Casual swimming

Sessions are available from early morning through to late in the evening. Take time to relax in the pool or exercise to the full. Casual swimming days and times are included in the download section on the right hand side of this page.

Adult only sessions

Enjoy a swim without the kids. Open to persons over the age of 16. Lane swimming is available throughout the week. Adult swimming days and times are included in the download section on the right hand side of this page.

swimmingWomen only

Have the pool to yourself, no kids no men just swim and enjoy.  Women only swimming days and times are included in the download section on the right hand side of this page.

Fun float sessions

Bring the kids to have some fun with lots of large floats and inflatable rafts.
Weekends only during term-time. Fun float session times are included in the download section on the right hand side of this page.

Swimming Lessons

The swimming development scheme at The Neptune follows the Amateur swimming association national plan for swimming development. You can learn to swim whatever your age (starts from 4 years). The aim of the scheme is to give swimmers a range of essential skills, introduction to water, good swimming technique and water safety skills. Lessons take place every day throughout the week and are booked in blocks of 10 or 12 lessons. Check out the swimming lesson time-table in the download section on the right hand side of this page.

Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Club

The club operates from its main base in The Neptune. Middlesbrough Amateur Swimming Clubs aim is to promote swimming in the Teesside area. The strives to offer children the best opportunity to develop within the sport of swimming, providing coaches for all levels of swimmer. M.A.S.C. will enable children to reach their full potential and encourage self-discipline to help young people to develop into healthy organised and articulate individuals.

Aquarobics

Tired of those sessions in the gym or round the track why not try water based exercise in the pool. Instructed sessions for 1 hour using the water for resistance and support.

Pool Lifeguard course

The National pool lifeguard qualification is a nationally recognised qualification. Individual wanting to become lifeguards within leisure centres must hold this qualification. The 40-hour course covers subjects such as lifesaving, resuscitation, first-aid identifying hazards plus the safe supervision and working of swimming pools.

Children’s Parties

Plan your child’s party at The Neptune with 1 hour’s exclusive use of the small pool with floats and toys. A lifeguard is provided to ensure your party is fun but safe. Parties can be pool only or self-catering. All food parties are held in Joe Waltons Community and Youth club where a private room can be hired in advance.
