If you're in arrears with your mortgage repayments and are being threatened with court action, you can apply for an interest-free loan to help pay off any arrears.
Five Lamps administers loans on behalf of Middlesbrough Council to prevent homes being repossessed or residents being evicted due to mortgage or rent arrears. Households must be willing to act on money and debt advice from Middlesbrough's Debt Advice Team or the Citizens' Advice Bureau.
Loans are available up to a maximum of £5,000, are interest-free, and are available to:
- Social sector tenants
- Private sector tenants
All loans will be paid directly to the mortgage lender or landlord, and where necessary, the householder must make arrangements to clear any additional arrears.
