1. We will work as a partnership
Middlesbrough Council and its partners will work with the private sector, the voluntary sector and residents to achieve success. We will use our resources to enable local groups and individuals to take action.
2. We will work with you
We will ask for, and listen to, the ideas and opinions of the people who know the challenges facing our communities best: you.
3. We will support our young people
We know the important role young people play in our communities. We will ask them about the challenges they face, and work together to overcome them. We will support families and communities to give young people the best chance in life.
4. We will be open to change
In areas of the community where we are already providing services, we will make sure these are fit for purpose. This might mean changing the way in which services operate, or changing the way that local people can engage with them.
5. We will help to build strong communities
We will enable individuals, families and communities to become more resilient and supportive of each other, to prevent problems from escalating or even occurring in the first place. Money spent on addressing these problems can then be put to more positive use.
6. We will support new ideas
You know your community better than anyone, and we want to back your good ideas and help you to develop your own solutions to problems. We are committing £1.3m over the next three years to investing in community ideas.
