Environmental Permits: Part A2 and Part B permits

Middlesbrough Council is legally required to regulate certain types of factory and other activities such as dry cleaning. This is to reduce any pollution they cause and help to improve air quality. The scheme is called Local Authority Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control (LA-IPPC).

Businesses which operate these regulated premises must have a permit.

Under the law, these premises are known as "installations". Some are called 'Part B', and Middlesbrough Council can only deal with air pollution from them. Many different sorts of pollution are controlled at 'Part A2' installations.

Use Part A2 and Part B Application Forms to apply for a permit for a 'Part A2' or 'Part B' installation under the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations  2010 ("the EP Regulations"), SI 2007/3538.
