Dead animals

Dead animals will be collected and disposed of within one day from all public areas, highways and domestic properties. If pets are micro-chipped, the council will make every effort to inform the owner.

Dead animals in domestic properties should be placed in a bag or wrapped in a blanket.

The council does not send teams to pick up smaller dead animals, such as rodents, reptiles, birds or small pets. Members of the public can take their deceased pets to SUEZ for cremation (Haverton Hill Road, Billingham, Teesside, TS23 1PY).

To report a dead animal, you can complete the online dead animal reporting form or alternatively, call the Environment Contact Centre on 01642 726001.

Dead animals found on the A19 and A174 in Middlesbrough are removed by Autolink by calling 01642 560538.
