Fabrick Housing tenants i.e. Erimus and Tees Valley Tenants
All common pests are treated free of charge (covered by a contract arrangement between Middlesbrough Council and the Fabrick Housing Group).
Endeavour Housing tenants (Middlesbrough only)
Tenants will not be charged for rats, mice, fleas, cockroaches and bedbugs (excluding wasps) (covered by a contract arrangement between Middlesbrough Council and Endeavour Housing Association).
Statutory Nuisance from insects
Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005 added to the descriptions of Statutory Nuisance listed in section 79(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to include: 'Section 79 (1)(fa) any insects emanating from relevant industrial, trade or business premises and being prejudicial to health or a nuisance'.
Please note that this new provision doesn't apply to insects from domestic premises which can be dealt with under existing nuisance law. Examples of likely sources of insect nuisance complaints will now include sewage treatment works, manure/silage storage areas, stagnant ditches and drains, landfill sites, refuse tips and waste transfer premises.
