Shopping trolleys

Abandoned trolleys are an environmental eyesore. They are found in parks and open spaces, back alleys, footpaths, cycleways and becks. Trolleys dumped in becks obstruct the flow of water and can lead to flooding. The council spends many hours and thousands of pounds every year clearing trolleys from streets and watercourses.

We've adopted laws allowing us to charge supermarkets for all the costs incurred dealing with their abandoned trolleys.

You can report abandoned trolleys using the TrolleyWise website and app.

If you're not able to report the trolley online, you can report it to the retailer which owns the trolley.
