Journey planning

Before accepting a job, or even before applying or attending an interview, have you checked that you'll be able to get to the potential workplace?

There are websites and smartphone apps you can use to plan your journey, which will give you driving directions, public transport information and walking routes. You can even use Google Street View to look at the area around the workplace, so that you know what to look out for on the day you're travelling.

Always remember to plan ahead, leave in plenty of time in case of potential travel disruptions, and if possible do a trial run of the journey first.

If you're claiming benefits you may qualify for payment of your travel costs and help with appropriate clothing, but you must ask your Jobcentre Plus work coach in advance.
