The anniversary of the Battle of Britain will be commemorated in Middlesbrough with the annual Parade and Service.

This year’s event takes place on Sunday, September 15.

In commemoration of the 84th anniversary of the Battle of Britain,1869 (Middlesbrough) Squadron Air Training Corps will be on parade.

The Squadron Air Training Corps will be on parade at the Cenotaph at 11.30am where a short service and wreath laying ceremony will be held.

The Battle of Britain was the German air force’s attempt to gain air superiority over the RAF from July to September 1940.

Their ultimate defeat was one of the turning points of World War Two and prevented Germany from invading Britain.

The RAF Ensign is currently flying over Middlesbrough Town Hall in commemoration of those who fought for freedom.
