Labour enjoyed a night of success in elections held throughout Middlesbrough.

Votes were counted at Middlesbrough Sports Village after polls closed at 10pm on Thursday.

In the General Election, Andy McDonald was re-elected as the MP for Middlesbrough and Thornaby East.

And Luke Myer made it a double Westminster success for the party when he was elected as the MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland.

Luke Henman (Acklam) and Lewis Young (Central) came out on top in the Council by-elections prompted by two resignations.
