Pantomime is back at Middlesbrough Theatre and this year you shall go to the ball because it’s Cinderella – oh yes it is!
The festive treat, presented by Extravaganza Productions, sees Amelia Lily return to her hometown to take to the stage as the Fairy Godmother. Fan favourite, Philip Green, is also back to appear as Buttons.
The pantomime extravaganza stars Steve Banks as Dandini, Terry Ashe as Baron Hardup and introduces Charley Robbie as Cinderella and Daniel Breakwell as Prince Charming.
The two Ugly Sisters, Buttercup and Daisy Hardup, are played by Charlie Bryant and Robert Loughlin.
Amelia Lily, best-known as a finalist on X-Factor has impressive theatre credits including playing Princess Fiona in the UK tour of Shrek: The Musical, the narrator in Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and the iconic Whatshername in the West End premiere of Green Day’s hit punk rock musical, American Idiot.
Her debut single, You Bring Me Joy, reached number 2 in the UK singles charts. The singer, actress and TV personality has also appeared on Geordie Shore, Celebrity Big Brother and has hosted her own BBC podcast, The Talent Factory: Inside the Music Machine.
Character and comedy impressionist Philip Green is back in Middlesbrough once again as Buttons. Fans can look forward to more madcap fun and antics from the loveable funny man.
Working across a huge variety of theatre, TV and film, Philip also has a massive digital presence with his YouTube show The Philip Green Show.
Regularly clocking up millions of views online, his TikTok channel has over 64 million likes and 3.7 million followers.
Charley Robbie as Cinderella is a recent graduate of Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. Credits while training include Doctor Billeaux in Urinetown – The Musical and Frieda in Carrie – The Musical. She is overjoyed to be spending Christmas in Middlesbrough where she will make her professional debut.
Terry Ashe as Baron Hardup is once again delighted to return to Middlesbrough for what he fondly calls his annual ‘northern’ Christmas.
A pantomime regular, he has played numerous characters over the years from the goodies to the baddies and even the Cowardly Lion.
Richard Chandler, Creative Producer from Extravaganza Productions, is thrilled to be back for his favourite time of the year.
He said: “Making the annual trip to Middlesbrough for the pantomime spectacular is our absolute favourite.
“This year we’ve got some fantastic festive treats and some magical surprises in store too!”

Councillor Philippa Storey, Middlesbrough’s Deputy Mayor said: “Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a trip to Middlesbrough Theatre for the pantomime.
“It’s a fantastic cast for this year and we can’t wait to enjoy the magic of the enchanted pumpkins, the sparkling glass slipper and loads of festive fun!”
Cinderella is at Middlesbrough Theatre from December 8 – January 7, 2024.
A BSL Signed performance is on Wednesday, January 3 at 7pm.
