Mayor of Middlesbrough

The Mayor

Dave Budd became Middlesbrough's second directly-elected Mayor on 7 May 2015. Mayor Budd has lived in, and worked around, Middlesbrough his whole life and raised his family in the town.

Mayor Budd worked as a local bank manager for many years, helping and supporting local businesses to start up and to grow. Representing Hemlington and later Ladgate ward, Dave Budd was first elected as a Councillor in 1991, serving as Executive Member for Regeneration and as Deputy Mayor before being elected as Mayor. Dave has represented Middlesbrough regionally and nationally, fighting to make Middlesbrough's voice heard.

Mayor Budd is committed to making a fairer, safer and stronger Middlesbrough for all residents. He is passionate about closing the inequality gap between residents and creating job opportunities for all.

For a decade, Mayor Budd has been leading the huge task of transforming and regenerating our town. Dave has been involved in the Middlehaven project since the start and helped to deliver some of our town's most iconic spaces, such as mima, Centre Square and the new Holiday Inn Express.

Dave is an avid Boro fan, following the team across Europe and through highs and lows for many years. He is also a cricket fan and a proud granddad.
