A Middlesbrough Council by-election is being held following the resignation of Coulby Newham Ward member Councillor David Smith.
The election was called by two members of the public on Friday (January 10).
Nomination papers for the election are available from Electoral Services, PO Box 503, Town Hall, Middlesbrough, TS1 9FX, from 10am on Friday, January 17 and must be delivered to the Returning Officer no later than 4pm on Friday, January 24.
If the election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, February 20.
A candidate briefing session will be held at Middlesbrough Town Hall on Friday, January 17 at 10am.
Those residents who are already registered to vote in the area will receive a Poll Card advising them of where their polling station is located, between Friday, January 17 and Friday, January 24.
The last date to register to vote in this by-election will be Tuesday, February 4.

Deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications, and for changes to existing postal or postal proxy votes, is 5pm on Wednesday, February 5.
Deadline for receiving proxy applications, and for changes to existing proxy votes is 5pm on Wednesday, February 12.
Applications for an emergency proxy vote to vote by proxy applied for on grounds of incapacity occurred after 5pm on Wednesday, February 12, must be submitted to the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Thursday, February 20.
