School catering

The Schools Catering Service provides school meals for nursery, primary, secondary and special schools which include all of the essential vitamins, minerals, fruit and vegetables. The service aims to promote healthier communities by reducing obesity and the consumption of fatty foods. School meals in Middlesbrough meet the school food standards set by the government.

Benefits of a school meal

  • Children can develop their social skills and learn to eat correctly with a knife and fork
  • Research shows a well-balanced meal at lunchtime improves concentration during the afternoon
  • Parents know their child is enjoying a good meal, which is excellent value for money

The current price of a primary and nursery school meal is £1.90 per day.
