Home Energy Conservation Act

Middlesbrough Council takes a partnership approach to tackling fuel poverty and providing affordable warmth through the Affordable Warmth Steering Group, comprising of a number of statutory and voluntary organisations and chaired by Middlesbrough Environment City. The group developed the Affordable Warmth Action Plan, setting out four key aims:

  • 1 - adoption and promotion of the Affordable Warmth agenda;
  • 2 - promoting energy efficiency across all housing stock;
  • 3 - income maximisation and debt advice;
  • 4 - improving health and wellbeing. 

The council is required to publish progress updates at two yearly intervals until 31 March 2027. The next update is due in 2017.
