I need to pay my Council Tax

The quickest way is to pay your Council Tax online.

You can also set up a Direct Debit to make it easier to pay every month. You can set up a Direct Debit using your Council Tax account.

I think I'm eligible for a Council Tax discount

I need to register for Council Tax

You can create a Council Tax account online and register for Council Tax.

If your property is a new build, you'll need to contact us to register for Council Tax. You will not be able to do it online.

Call us on 01642 726006 and an advisor will help you.

Once your property is registered, you'll be able to use the online service to manage your account.

I'm struggling to pay my Council Tax

You might find it easier to pay your Council Tax over 12 months instead of 10, or every week instead of every month.

You can use the Council Tax enquiry form to ask us to make the change to your account.

If you cannot use the online form, you can call us on 01642 726006.

Getting a phone call about your Council Tax

We use an automated phone service to contact customers who have Council Tax debts.

If you get a call from the automated phone service, it will come from either 01642 843027 or 01642 843077.

You cannot use those numbers to get in touch with us. You can contact us about Council Tax by calling 01642 726006.

Is this a scam?

No. If you get a call from 01642843027 or 01642843077 then it is not a scam.

If you get a phone call, you'll be asked to press 1 to speak to a caseworker at Middlesbrough Council.

If you get a voicemail, you'll be given a number to call to speak to a caseworker at Middlesbrough Council.

If you get a text message, you'll be given a number to call to speak to a caseworker at Middlesbrough Council.

You won't be asked to give any personal information before you press 1, or phone the number, to speak to a caseworker.
