Bazaar, the exciting new restaurant coming to Middlesbrough town centre, will “wow visitors from far and wide”, Mayor Chris Cooke believes.

Mayor Cooke was given a tour of the Captain Cook Square restaurant and left full of excitement for the opening next week.

Owned by Tarek Thoma, Bazaar’s website promises it will combine “modern cooking techniques with ancient methods”. The restaurant will create 50 jobs.

Featuring one of Europe’s biggest pizza ovens, Bazaar will serve exquisite food and drinks from around the world.

Mr Thoma has experience at Michelin Star-awarded kitchens and once cooked for then-Prime Minister Tony Blair and US President George Bush.

Mayor Cooke said: “From the moment you step inside, Bazaar has the wow factor and will impress visitors from far and wide. I was so impressed with Tarek’s ambition, vision and passion for bringing a concept so special to Middlesbrough.

“Our town centre is changing fast and the new developments at Captain Cook Square are crucial to our vision of bringing more people into town to support jobs and businesses.

“I can’t wait to return when the kitchen is open – Bazaar promises to be a brilliant addition to our food and drink scene.”
