Middlesbrough bus station

Middlesbrough bus station is open 7 days a week, from 5am until 12pm.

The bus station is open 362 days a year. It is closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and Boxing Day if it falls on a weekend.

Location

The bus station is located in the centre of town, on Newport Road. View the location on Google Maps.

There are entrances from Newport Road and Captain Cook Square, both of which are fully accessible.

Travel destinations

Passengers can travel to destinations across Middlesbrough. Buses also link the town to the Tees Valley and the wider region, including Stockton, Hartlepool, Durham, Newcastle and Scarborough. Visit Connect Tees Valley for a list of routes and bus stop information (under Area Bus Maps). For timetables, please visit the websites of individual bus operators.

Long distance coaches to various national destinations, including London and Manchester, leave from the bus station express lounge between the hours of 5am and 12pm. Outside of these hours, or when the bus station is closed, they leave from stand Z (outside BBC Tees on Newport Road).

Facilities

There are public toilets, including a Changing Places facility. The toilets are closed for a short time every hour so we can clean them. There are also a number of shops.

The safety of visitors is of the utmost importance. We're proud to hold the Safer Bus Station award, for our work offering security and reassurance to visitors, and reducing crime and disorder. Middlesbrough was the first bus station in the north east to be given this award.
