Changes to bin collections

We're making changes to bin collections as part of the savings we need to make. These changes will affect all residents who use black refuse bins and green garden waste bins.

Rubbish collections

We're introducing fortnightly rubbish collections for residents with a black bin. There are no changes for residents who use sacks or a communal bin.

Check the fortnightly collections frequently asked questions to find out more about the changes.

We know some people might struggle with only getting their rubbish collected every 2 weeks, so eligible households can apply for a bigger bin.

Garden waste collections

To get your garden waste collected, you'll now need to subscribe to the garden waste service and pay an annual charge.

Check the garden waste subscription frequently asked questions to find out more about these changes.

Only residents who have subscribed will get their garden waste collected. If you do not subscribe, you'll have to take your garden waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre, or you can compost it.

Recycling collections

We'll still collect your recycling every 2 weeks.

We know most residents are great at recycling, but there's still more we can do. It's good for the environment, and it will also make it easier when we move to fortnightly rubbish collections. Making sure that everything recyclable goes in your blue-lid bin might give you extra space in your black bin.
