Report a missed garden waste collection

You can find out your bin collection day on MyMiddlesbrough. You must be subscribed to garden waste collections first.

If your bin has not been emptied, it might be because:

  • you put it out on the wrong day
  • you put it out on the wrong week (garden waste collections are every 2 weeks)
  • you put it out after 7am
  • you left out too much waste (for example, bags beside the bin)
  • your bin was too heavy to move
  • the garden waste collection season has ended (we only collect garden waste between April and November)

Check your bin collection dates carefully to make sure you do not miss the final garden waste collection in November. We'll remind you on our website and social media in advance.

Sometimes we cannot empty your bin because of unavoidable problems, like a bin lorry breaking down, dangerous driving conditions like heavy snow, or problems on the road like an accident. If this happens, we'll try and empty your bin as soon as possible. This is usually the next day.

If you've missed your collection, you can take your garden waste to the Household Waste Recycling Centre.

If you often have too much green waste to fit in one bin, you can pay for an extra garden waste bin.
