Apply for a bigger refuse bin

We're introducing fortnightly rubbish collections for residents with a black refuse bin. There are no changes for residents who use sacks or a communal bin.

If you're going to struggle with only getting your rubbish collected every 2 weeks, you might be eligible for a bigger bin.

Applications for bigger bins have now closed until after fortnightly collections start in August 2024.

What happens after I've applied?

Fortnightly collections will start from early August 2024, so for now you can keep putting your black bin out every week. You can check your bin calendar online.

2 people in your household

add

Keep putting your bin out on your usual collection day.

We'll send you a red sticker in the post. Please attach the sticker to your new bin so our crews know it's an authorised extra bin. Make sure both bins have your house number on them.

We'll deliver your extra bin before fortnightly collections start. More information about deliveries will be available soon.

3 or more people in your household

add

Keep putting your bin out on your usual collection day.

We'll send you a yellow sticker in the post. Please attach the sticker to your current bin so our crews know your bin needs to be replaced when the time comes.

We'll take away your current bin and deliver your new bin on the same day, on your usual collection day. We'll empty your current bin and lay it flat before it's removed.

If your bin has been emptied and has not been laid down, take it back in as normal. Please do not leave your bin out on the street.

We'll start delivering bigger bins from Tuesday 11 June. Deliveries will take several weeks, so please do not worry if your new bin is not delivered immediately.
