What Connect is


Connect offers emergency help and support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. It's simple to use and gives you added security and peace of mind. We are committed to supporting people across Middlesbrough, helping them to remain safe and independent in their own homes.

Who Connect is for


Connect can help if you:

  • feel vulnerable
  • feel unsafe at home
  • have a disability
  • have a medical condition
  • care for someone

Sometimes you just need to know that someone is there for you or your loved one if they're needed.

How Connect works


Connect alarm units are designed to raise an alarm call from anywhere in your home by simply pressing the personal alarm pendant or the large illuminated red button on the unit. You do not need a landline to have an alarm unit.

Connect alarm units allow hands-free communication between you and the Contact Centre operator when an alarm call is raised.

All equipment installed in your home allows you to alert our Contact Centre if you have a personal or medical emergency which you need help with. The Contact Centre is located in Middlesbrough.

Once the alarm call is activated, you can communicate with one of our advisers using the built-in speaker on the unit. The adviser will assist you in the best possible way.

For a small fee, we can also hold a key for you in our secure safe, or arrange for a key safe to be installed.



An alarm unit costs £5.56 per week.

If you get Pension Credit - Guaranteed Credit, there is currently no charge for the service.

You'll get:

  • free installation
  • Connect alarm unit and pendant
  • 24 hour emergency response service, should you need it

We can also offer:

  • additional pendants - £1 per week
  • daily assurance call - 86p per call
  • key holding - 59p per week
  • key safe installation - contact the Staying Put Agency on 0800 587 5184

How to get Connect


Our friendly, helpful staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to answer all your questions. They can also arrange to visit you and demonstrate the service for free.
