If you want to make a complaint about a driver or a taxi, please call the taxi licensing office on 01642 728010 or email licensing@middlesbrough.gov.uk. We'll send you a form in the post, which asks for details of the driver and vehicle you're making a complaint about.

If you leave something in a taxi

If you lose anything in a taxi you should first contact the police as drivers are advised to hand in any lost property at their local police station. Call 01642 326326 and ask to be put through to the lost property office.

If you lose anything in a private hire vehicle, please contact the private hire operator firm for the vehicle in which you travelled.

If you have managed to take note of the driver's badge number, the vehicle plate number or registration number then please contact the Licensing Office on 01642 728010 and we may be able to contact the driver on your behalf.

Always be careful with your belongings; it may be the next customer who finds your property and not the driver. Middlesbrough Council cannot be held responsible for lost property or the actions of any driver or operator.

Licensed taxi drivers and vehicles

The council is required to maintain and publish a list of all licensed taxi drivers and licensed hire vehicles. You can use the online taxi licensing form to search for any licences which have been granted, suspended or reinstated in a particular month.
